The grade
Not all silk is created equal
Raw silk is graded from C up to A, and the very best A-grade silk is graded further up to 6A. The higher the grade, the longer, smoother and more even the fibres. 6A is the top of the scale, and it is the only grade we use.
The fibre
Mulberry silk, never wild silk
Mulberry silk comes from cultivated silkworms that feed only on mulberry leaves. The result is a long, continuous, naturally pure white thread that feels softer, dyes more evenly and lasts longer than wild silk.
The weight
Momme makes the difference
Momme is the unit used to measure the weight and density of silk. A higher momme means more silk per square metre: a richer feel, less transparency and a longer life. We choose the momme for every piece with care, so it drapes beautifully and lasts.

How to recognise real silk
Real silk quickly warms up to the temperature of your skin and feels smooth and soft, never plastic or cold. Its sheen shifts subtly in the light instead of looking flat and shiny. And a single burnt thread of real silk smells like burnt hair and crumbles to ash, while synthetics melt into a hard bead.
